Key Stats: 1B Nate Mondou 3-for-5, HR (5), 6 RBI; 3B Eguy Rosario 1-for-3, 2B, 2 BB; CF Bryce Johnson 2-for-5, 3B, BB; LF Graham Pauley 2-for-5, 2B; LHP Jackson Wolf 3.1 IP, 7 H, 9 ER, 5 K, 3 BB; RHP Kevin Kopps 0.2 IP, 5 H, 6 ER, BB; RHP Alek Jacob 2.1 IP, K, 2 BB; RHP Lake Bachar 1.2 IP, 2 H, ER, 3 K, BB;

Prospect Watch: The Chihuahuas were down 15-1 by the middle of the fourth inning, but they chipped away over the next few frames before putting up a nine spot in the seventh to pull ahead and claim their second straight victory over Las Vegas. Eight different El Paso hitters reached base safely at least twice in the contest. … Nate Mondou had the biggest night, going 3-for-5 with his fifth homer of the year. The 29-year-old, who spent seven years in the Athletics system and collected more than 800 plate appearances for the Aviators, is on pace for double-digit totals in doubles, triples, and homers this year. … Eguy Rosario had a double and walked two more times, pushing his OPS since being sent down to 1.097. He’s also dropped his strikeout rate back to his career norm at 20%. He’s clearly ready for another shot at the big leagues. … Graham Pauley collected just his fourth multi-hit game in a month. While he’s had stellar walk and strikeout rates in his first pass at the PCL, he’s hitting just .238 on balls in play, leading to an underwhelming .226/.356/.429 line. The underlying batted ball data gives reason for optimism that he’ll bounce back. … After Jackson Wolf and Kevin Kopps got pounded for 15 runs, righty Alek Jacob came on and tossed 2.1 scoreless innings. The 25-year-old righty, who reached the big leagues last year with a career ERA under two, has struggled mightily as he works back from an elbow injury that ended his 2023 campaign in June, but he’s now had several strong outings in recent weeks. He sports a 7.76 ERA with 19 walks, and opponents are hitting .342 against him in the PCL.

Missions 4, Midland RockHounds 3

Key Stats: CF Clay Dungan 3-for-4, HR (1); RF Zach Reks 2-for-4, 2B; RHP Ryan Bergert 5 IP, 3 H, 2 ER, 5 K, 2 BB; RHP Bobby Milacki 2 IP, H; LHP Jayvien Sandridge 1.1 IP, 2 H, 1 ER, K, BB

Prospect Watch: Ryan Bergert turned in his third straight solid start and picked up his first win of the year. The 24-year-old, whose fastball has flattened out some this year even as he’s shown a more consistent feel for his breaking pitches from a slightly lower release point, struck out five – his best total in seven outings. Over his last three appearances, he’s allowed six earned runs in 16.2 innings with 10 strikeouts and five walks, leaving him with a 5.48 ERA on the year. … Bobby Milacki and Raul Brito held the Athletics affiliate scoreless over 2.2 innings before Jayvien Sandridge came on for a four-out save. The big lefty gave up a run on a pair of hits but locked up his fourth save of the season. Since dominating through April, the 25-year-old minor league free agent signee with a big fastball has a 4.85 ERA despite 21 strikeouts in 13 innings. … Clay Dungan powered the Missions offense, going 3-for-4 with his first homer in 24 games with the club. The 28-year-old veteran has been holding down center field for the Missions after starting the year in El Paso and then spending a stint on the IL.

Peoria Chiefs 13, TinCaps 2

Key Stats: 1B/P Anthony Vilar 3-for-4 at the plate, 1 IP, 1 H, 1 BB on the mound; CF Homer Bush Jr. 2-for-5; RHP Dylan Lesko 4 IP, 8 H, 7 ER, 6 K, 2 BB; LHP Ryan Och 2.2 IP, 2 H, 2 K, 1 BB; RHP Bradgley Rodriguez IP, 2 H, 3 R (2 ER), 2 BB

Prospect Watch: John Conniff was on-hand for this one and has all the gruesome details.

Storm 8, Inland Empire 66ers 3

Key Stats: RHP Ian Koenig 2.2 IP, 4 H, 2 ER, 4 K, 1 BB; RHP Isaiah Lowe 6.1 IP, 9 H, 1 ER, 8 K; SS Leo De Vries 1-for-4, 2B, BB, SB (3); C J.D. Gonzalez 2-for-2, BB, SF; 2B Chase Valentine 2-for-3, SF; DH Ethan Long 1-for-5, 2B

Prospect Watch: Isaiah Lowe matched the career-high 6.1 one-run innings he posted in his last outing while striking out eight. The righty, who had a hiccup two weeks back, has turned in four dominant performances since his 21st birthday last month, giving up just three earned runs over 22.2 innings with a stellar 31:4 strikeout-to-walk ratio. The Padres’ 11th-round pick out of high school in 2022 dealt with shoulder issues much of last year but has the repertoire and physicality to profile as a big league starter as he advances through the system. … For the second straight week, Lowe followed rehabbing Ian Koenig to the mound. This time around, the righty from the Santa Cruz area gave up a pair of runs in the first but then was able to bounce back and stretch out to 2.2 innings on 46 pitches. He’ll likely shift a day on the next trip through the rotation as he continues to work back from Tommy John surgery. … The bottom of the Storm lineup did the most damage as J.D. Gonzalez and Chase Valentine combined to go 4-for-5, and each had a sacrifice fly. Gonzalez had a rough introduction to the Cal League but has been making better and more frequent contact over the last two weeks. The lefty-hitting catcher has hit in four straight and has struck out just four times in his last 29 trips to the plate. As one of the youngest players in the league, he’s starting to figure things out. … Speaking of which, after sitting Friday night, shortstop Leodalis De Vries had a double and walk and stole his third base of the season. He’s now collected a two-bagger in three games this series. He’s struck out just five times in 44 plate appearances. … Ethan Long came off the injured list and had a double in five at-bats. The right-handed slugger will add length to the Storm lineup.

ACL Giants 8, ACL Padres 7 (7 innings)

Addison Kopack has been a force in the ACL this year. (Photo: Jerry Espinoza)

Key Stats: SS B.Y. Choi 1-for-3, BB; DH Addison Kopack 2-for-4; RF L.J. Jones 2-for-5, HR (3); LF Spence Coffman 1-for-2, SF, SB (7); RHP Jackson Smeltz IP, 2 H, BB, 3 K; LHP Ruben Salinas 1.1 IP, 1 H, 2 R (1 ER), 2 K, BB; RHP Abraham Parra 2.2 IP, 7 H, 5 ER, 4 K, 3 BB

Prospect Watch: After big-league rehabbers Robbie Ray and Austin Warren mowed down the Padres through the first three innings with seven strikeouts, the offense came to life against slightly more even competition. L.J. Jones launched a grand slam and added another hit, likely bringing his brief stint in the desert to a close. The 24-year-old, who signed as a minor league free agent earlier in the week, homered in three of his four games and has a cool 1.071 slugging percentage. Addison Kopack returned to action at DH for the first time since injuring his leg on May 23 and picked up right where he left off. The 22-year-old had a pair of hits, pushing his average to .426 on the year. If he shows he’s healthy, it’s only a matter of time before he heads out to an affiliate. … Righty Jackson Smeltz loaded the bases but struck out the side in his second professional inning. The 25-year-old, who the Padres drafted in the 10th round in 2022 while he was recovering from Tommy John surgery, has continued to deal with injuries since joining the organization but has shown a big fastball when healthy. He’ll look to get out to an affiliate around the draft. … Lefty Ruben Salinas continues to work multiple times a week in his rehab assignment. After two off days, the 21-year-old gave up one earned run over 1.1 innings as he continues to stretch out.
